Federal Reserve Bank of New York — Financial District, Manhattan

On screen
After Sonny’s death the Don summons the heads of New York’s Five Families to make peace. “I’m a reasonable man,” he says, giving up revenge in return for a promise that Michael can come home safely from Sicily. But during the meeting he realises one thing: the man behind it all was not Tattaglia, but Barzini.
The place today
A Florentine-style stone palazzo at 33 Liberty Street, with one of the world’s largest gold vaults in its basement. According to Scouting NY, this is the building the family heads walk into; the room itself was the Penn Central railroad boardroom above Grand Central, since gutted. Tours of the bank are booked in advance and are usually free.
