“Michael Corleone says hello!”
7B (Vazac’s Horseshoe Bar) — East Village, Manhattan
In the New York guidePlan a day here
On screen
Frank Pentangeli comes to a bar to make peace with the Rosato brothers. They smile, then suddenly loop a cord around his neck and whisper: “Michael Corleone says hello!” The attempt is interrupted and Pentangeli survives, convinced that Michael betrayed him. Just as Roth had planned.
The place today
A veteran neighbourhood bar at Avenue B and 7th Street, facing Tompkins Square Park. Google Maps lists it as still open, with the horseshoe-shaped bar that gave it its name. It has also appeared in Crocodile Dundee and the Sex and the City movie. You can walk in and order a drink right where they tried to strangle Pentangeli.
