Death Eaters streak over London as black smoke. They twist a footbridge over the Thames until it snaps and falls into the water while people run. It’s the first sign that the war has reached the Muggle world.
The place today
A footbridge, free and always open, between St Paul’s Cathedral and Tate Modern. The collapse was computer-generated; the bridge is still standing.
Did you know? Filming took place over the weekend of 8–9 March 2008, without the main cast; the river was closed to boats so a helicopter could fly low.
