Khartoum, the $600,000 horse
The Beverly Estate — Beverly Hills, Los Angeles
On screen
At his lavish estate Woltz shows Hagen his pride and joy: Khartoum, a racehorse he bought for $600,000. Over dinner he explains that Fontane will never get the part, and makes no secret that it is personal. Hagen thanks him politely, leaves for the airport and adds just one thing: the Don is a man who insists on hearing bad news at once.
The place today
A vast 1920s estate at 1011 North Beverly Drive. Google Maps lists it as the “Beverly Estate (former Randolph Hearst Estate)”: the newspaper baron William Randolph Hearst lived here in his last years. It is private and walled, seen from the street only.
