Vito’s mother brings him to Don Ciccio’s villa and kneels to beg for the life of her small, silent boy, who could never harm anyone. When the Don refuses, she puts a knife to his throat and screams at her son to run. The guards shoot her, and Vito escapes through the olive trees.
The place today
An abandoned villa on private land in the Acireale countryside, listed on Google Maps as “Don Ciccio’s Villa from the Godfather II movie”. According to the Sicilian paper Balarm, the Don’s chair still stands where it was. Hard to reach; look from outside only.
