According to Italy for Movies and Italian travel sites, the lanes of Motta Camastra also appear in Part II’s flashbacks, as young Vito hides from the Don’s men. Father and son walk the same lanes in two different films, decades apart in the story.
The place today
A village hanging off a cliff above the Alcantara valley. A few minutes away is the Gole dell’Alcantara, a spectacular basalt canyon where you can wade in the icy river. It makes for a perfect Godfather-and-nature day.
