The Knight Bus squeezes through
Lambeth Bridge — Lambeth, London
In the London guidePlan a day here
On screen
After accidentally inflating Uncle Vernon’s sister and running away, Harry boards the Knight Bus, a purple triple-decker. It hurtles through London, and on a Thames bridge it squeezes itself thin to slip between two red double-deckers.
The place today
A public road bridge with pavements, free and always open, beside Lambeth Palace and a few hundred metres from the Houses of Parliament. The red buses still cross it.
Did you know? The film’s stunt coordinator, Greg Powell, called it “the most expensive night sequence ever shot in London”.
