On Halloween Harry hears a mysterious voice inside the walls. He, Ron and Hermione follow it and find water on the floor, the caretaker’s cat petrified and hanging, and a message daubed in blood: the Chamber of Secrets has been opened.
The place today
A working cathedral; entry is free, with a suggested donation. The cloister, with its famous fan vaulting, is open in visiting hours, which change around services and events. Harry Potter cloister tours run on some Saturdays.
Did you know? So that no “blood” touched the medieval stone, the crew built a false wall over the real one.
