⚖️ Films on the Map
Accessibility Statement
We want everyone, including people with disabilities, to be able to use Films on the Map (https://films-on-the-map.pages.dev). This statement describes what we have done, what we know is not yet good enough, and how to tell us about a problem.
1. Our target
We work to meet the Israeli Standard IS 5568, which is based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), at conformance level AA. Where we can, we also follow WCAG 2.2 at level AA. The site does not claim full conformance at this stage.
2. What we have done
- Each page declares its language and text direction, in all five languages.
- A "skip to content" link appears at the top of each page.
- Photos have text alternatives.
- The site can be used with a keyboard, and the keyboard focus is visible.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, animations are reduced.
- No video or sound plays automatically.
- The layout adapts to phones and to text zoom.
- The places shown on each map are also listed in text on the same page.
3. Testing
Last test: 1 November 2026, with the automated tool axe-core and keyboard navigation checks (in a script-driven browser).
Results: 0 critical, 0 serious, 0 moderate and 0 minor issues found by axe-core 4.10 (the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 rules at levels A and AA, plus best practices) on 82 pages: every type of page (home page, collections, scene pages, quizzes and quiz results, city guides, the trip planner, the five legal pages and the error page), in all five languages, each at phone and desktop width (164 checks). The first run found two issues (map controls inside an element marked as an image, and the error page without a main region); both were fixed. The keyboard checks covered the skip link, visible focus, keyboard traps and operating buttons with Enter and Space on 10 pages; they found that the area markers on the collection maps had no visible focus indicator, and this was fixed. Automated tools do not find every barrier.
We fix the serious and critical issues first, and we test again after major changes.
4. Known limitations
- The maps and the quiz pictures are visual by nature. The same places are named and described in text, but the map itself may not be fully usable with a screen reader.
- Some text alternatives for photos are short.
- Pages and services of other providers that we link to, such as Google Maps, Wikimedia Commons and Google Forms, are outside our control.
5. Report a problem or ask for an alternative
If you run into an accessibility barrier, or you need information from the site in another format, please tell us. Use the contact form and choose "Accessibility". Please describe the page and the problem, and, if you want a reply, leave a way to reach you. Every field except the message is optional.
We will do our best to fix the problem, or to give you the information in another way, as soon as we can. We aim to fix reported problems within 60 days.
6. About this statement
