The rock below the cliffs
Cliffs of Moher — County Clare, Ireland
On screen
Dumbledore apparates with Harry onto a wave-lashed rock beneath towering sea cliffs. From there they enter a cave to find the locket that is one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes.
The place today
A visitor centre open all year except 24–26 December, with tickets best booked online; hours change with the season. It can close in extreme weather, and the edge is sheer and unfenced: stay on the paths.
Did you know? The rock is really Lemon Rock, off the Kerry coast some 90 miles to the south, placed digitally in front of the cliffs. The cliffs were filmed mostly from a helicopter and a boat in September 2007.
