Michael gathers the Mafia bosses in a hotel penthouse in Atlantic City, announces that he is leaving the business and pays out their share. Joey Zasa storms out. A moment later a helicopter hovers outside the huge windows and sprays the room with gunfire. Almost all the bosses are killed, and Michael escapes thanks to Vincent. “Just when I thought I was out,” he says later, “they pull me back in.”

The place today

A hotel-casino in Atlantic City’s Marina District. It opened in 1985 as Donald Trump’s “Trump’s Castle”, later became “Trump Marina”, and since 2011 has been the Golden Nugget. In the film it is the “Palazzo Azzurro”; according to movie-locations, the meeting room was rebuilt at Cinecittà in Rome.
