Vincent, Sonny’s illegitimate son, and Mary, Michael’s daughter, fall in love even though they are cousins. They drink together in a small Little Italy bar, away from the family’s eyes. Michael, who sees where this is heading, will later make Vincent choose: Mary or the family.

The place today

A veteran Mulberry Street bar, said to have opened in 1908 as Mare Chiaro and, the story goes, Frank Sinatra’s favourite. It has also appeared in Donnie Brasco and The Sopranos. Google Maps lists it as still open, so you can sit at the bar just like Vincent and Mary.
