“Where are all the men?”

Forza d’Agrò Cathedral — Forza d’Agrò

In the Taormina guidePlan a day here

On screen

The three walk into the village. The streets are almost empty, and Michael asks where all the men have gone. The answer: dead, every one, in vendettas. They pass the main church of Forza d’Agrò, Corleone’s church on screen, which returns in both sequels.

The place today

The village’s main church, a Baroque façade at the top of a stairway. The present building dates from 1707, after its predecessor collapsed in an earthquake. Forza d’Agrò is a medieval village 420 m up, with cobbled, mostly car-free lanes, a 15th-century gate (Arco Durazzesco) and the ruins of a Norman castle at the top.
