On screen

Hiding in Sicily after killing Sollozzo and Captain McCluskey in New York, Michael Corleone roams the hills with two shepherd-bodyguards, Fabrizio and Calò, lupara shotguns on their shoulders. On the hilltop ahead sits a village, the film’s “Corleone”. In reality it is Forza d’Agrò, seen from the Sant’Alessio side.

The place today

A small chapel on the road up to Forza d’Agrò, less than a kilometre from the village. From here Forza d’Agrò sits on its hill exactly as on screen. Below are the beach town of Sant’Alessio and the castle on the cape.
