Dobby apparates the escapees from Malfoy Manor to a beach by Shell Cottage, but the knife Bellatrix threw has struck him, and he dies in Harry’s arms. Harry digs his grave in the dunes by hand, without magic.
The place today
A wild beach in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, with parking and toilets. Not for swimming: big swells and dangerous currents. Dobby’s memorial is in the first row of dunes, about ten minutes’ walk from the car park.
Did you know? Fans built a memorial to Dobby in the dunes. In 2022 the National Trust decided to let it stay for now, but asks visitors to take photos only: no socks, no painted pebbles.
