Voldemort takes the Elder Wand

Eilean na Moine, Loch Eilt — Loch Eilt, Scottish Highlands

In the The Scottish Highlands guidePlan a day here

On screen

Voldemort comes to Dumbledore’s white tomb on an island in the lake by Hogwarts. He breaks it open, takes the Elder Wand from the dead headmaster’s hands and fires it into the sky.

The place today

See the island from a rough lay-by on the A830 at the west end of the loch. The path is boggy, there are midges in summer and no facilities: the nearest toilets are at Glenfinnan. The Jacobite steam train runs along the loch, and there is nothing from the film on the island itself.

Did you know? The real island was moved digitally onto a bigger loch, Loch Arkaig, for a grander view.
