Shell Cottage
Freshwater West — Pembrokeshire, Wales
On screen
Harry stands by Dobby’s grave in the dunes outside Bill and Fleur’s Shell Cottage. Inside, he questions Mr Ollivander about the wands and strikes a deal with the goblin Griphook to break into the Lestranges’ vault at Gringotts.
The place today
A wild beach in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, with parking and toilets. Not for swimming: big swells and dangerous currents. Dobby’s memorial is in the first row of dunes, about ten minutes’ walk from the car park.
Did you know? Shell Cottage was built at the foot of the dunes for both parts of Deathly Hallows and taken down after filming. What remains is the fans’ memorial.
