On screen
That evening Michael and Kay leave Radio City Music Hall after seeing “The Bells of St. Mary’s”. Kay stops at a newsstand and turns pale: the headline says Vito Corleone has been shot. Michael runs to a pay phone across the street to call home and find out whether his father is alive.
The place today
Rockefeller Center’s famous hall, opened in 1932 and home of the Rockettes. The scene was shot at the side entrance on West 50th Street. Paid guided tours run all year, and in winter there’s the traditional Christmas show.
