On screen

In an arcaded courtyard Harry warns Cedric that the first task is dragons. Malfoy jeers from a tree, and when he tries to curse Harry from behind, the new teacher, Mad-Eye Moody, turns him into a bouncing ferret.

The place today

A 14th-century Oxford college. Visitors enter from New College Lane with a ticket. Winter hours are shorter and the cloisters sometimes close for events, so check the college website.

Did you know? According to the college’s own visitor leaflet, the holm oak in the corner of the cloister is now best known for its role in Goblet of Fire.
